Collaboration p2 (a)

I have decided to postpone the nurse performance as i will not have time to get everything together and get another collaborator to be the patient. We now have a date for when we can perform as we have been booked to play at the Horse Hospital and only have two weeks to prepare. i don’t think that this idea would mesh well with the rest of the performances.

Now that we have a venue and know who we will be playing either side of i can plan what kind of show will compliment the lineup. We decided that I will be leading as we are performing under my name. it’s important for us to meet in person frequently and discuss our ideas. How it has worked out so far is that i will come with an initial idea that Jo will add to and expand when rehearsing. We haven’t spoken too much about how we want it to go we have just spoken about the structure and within that constraint we both improvise. i’ve decided to keep it simple and have a guitar, small modular analog synth and a mic. Jo will play guitar using alternative methods like me. They don’t want a mic anymore because their name is not on the poster.

Did you know that the female orgasm has four stages? 1️⃣ EXCITEMENT: Physical responses such as swelling of the breasts, widening of the vaginal walls, hardening of the nipples, and

I want to first start with a song or words then transition into a noise piece then transition back into a song. The performance will have a narrative and some kind of climax however i’m not sure about a release at the end.. more of a circle back to the beginning again leaving it open. This is because its our first performance and think its interesting to leave the audience not unsatisfied but still involved and present with the feeling internal. We will see how it works out. I want to finish with a cover of the song ‘White Horses’ by Jackie Lee. This is the theme tune to a 60’s television show. My Dad used to play it all the time as he felt very nostalgic towards the melody and lyrics. Sitting in the back of the car whilst the song played and gazing out the window imagining a white horse galloping along the side of us; making it jump into the air with my finger is a core memory for me from my childhood. This song for me represents a longing for a kinder more peacful and free future. The lyrics describe a dreamlike world which i think the song transports you to. The melody is very dreamy and i always loved her soft warm voice but for me the lyrics encompass a feeling of something simple, positive and dreamlike which i hope will encourage at least a small sense of hope and peace for people in a state of grief over the violence and evil of the current state of things which is the note i think i want to finish on.

In our rehearsal Jo found a guitar tone which sounds like hooves trotting when playing 8 notes in 4/4 signature. I am slightly worried about singing as we haven’t found the perfect key to play in and i’m worried about coming in at a key too low and sounding terrible.
